Terms of service

Last updated: April 27, 2026 · Boilerplate, not legal advice. A real MSA reviewed by counsel will replace this before launch.

1. Service

PQC Shield Labs (“we”) provides a service that embeds hybrid digital signatures and an RFC 3161 timestamp into PDF documents you upload. The service returns the sealed document and stores audit metadata (hashes, signatures, timestamps), not the original document.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the activity of users you authorize on your tenant. We may suspend access for suspected abuse, and we will notify you when we do.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to seal documents you do not have the right to sign, to evade lawful retention obligations, or to circumvent our rate limits. The service is not a substitute for jurisdiction-specific notarization or e-signature requirements; you are responsible for confirming applicability in your jurisdiction.

4. Cryptographic representations

We represent that, at the time of sealing: (a) the PDF was signed with both ECDSA P-256 and ML-DSA-65 over the document's SHA-256 digest; (b) an RFC 3161 timestamp was obtained from the TSA listed in the seal's audit record; (c) the audit record was written to our DynamoDB table prior to the sealed PDF being returned to you. We make no representation about the long-term cryptanalytic security of any underlying algorithm beyond the standards bodies that publish them.

5. Storage and deletion

We do not retain your original PDF. We retain audit metadata per your plan's retention setting; see Privacy. The Certificate of Sealing PDF is retained in object storage and deletable on request. Deletion of audit metadata may be subject to legal hold obligations.

6. Fees and overage

Plan fees and per-seal overage rates are described on the Pricing page. Overage is billed monthly via Stripe. You can cancel at any time through the customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

7. Liability

Our total liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for consequential damages, including damages arising from a court's refusal to recognize a sealed document's evidentiary weight.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for disputes is the state and federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware.
